North Campus is making the Grinch’s heart grow!! Don’t forget to join in the fun tomorrow with our Grinch Day!

On Wednesday afternoon, kindergarten students boarded the Polar Express for a special trip to the North Pole. Students listened to The Polar Express, a children's book written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg.
The story is about a young boy who hears a train whistle in the distance only to find the Polar Express waiting outside his window ready to take him on a journey to the North Pole. The boy then boards the train, which is filled with chocolate and candy, as well as many other children in their pajamas. After the train reaches the North Pole, the boy is handpicked by Santa to receive the first gift of Christmas. He asks Santa for a bell from one of the reindeer's harnesses and puts it in the pocket of his robe. On the train ride home, the boy discovers the bell has fallen through a hole in his pocket. Christmas morning, his sister finds a small package for him under the tree. He opens the box and discovers the bell, delivered by Santa who found it on the seat of his sleigh. When the boy rings the bell, both he and his sister marvel at the beautiful sound, but neither of their parents can hear it ring. The magic of the bell is that it rings for those who truly believe.
After listening to the story, kindergarten students disembarked the Polar Express and heard the sound of bells ringing. Children found a special bell attached to their seats of the train. Kindergarten students later rotated through the three kindergarten classrooms where they ate chocolate milk, donuts, and candy canes, painted a picture of the Polar Express, and played a Christmas reading game. The afternoon ended with a variety of games and relays in the gym. It was a magical, memorable day in kindergarten.
