This week, our fourth grade students had a wonderful hands-on learning experience with Mrs.Moreno from the LaSalle County Soil and Water Conservation District!
Students explored the importance of water conservation and discovered how everyday choices—both at home and on farms—can impact our local water sources. They learned how pollution can begin in nearby lakes and streams, flow into the Illinois River, continue to the Mississippi River, and eventually reach the Gulf of Mexico.
Through an engaging lesson, students were introduced to the concepts of point source and nonpoint source pollution. They even applied their knowledge by participating in a fun and interactive watershed demonstration, helping them see firsthand how water moves through a community.
We are so grateful to Mrs. Moreno for sharing her time and expertise with our students. Experiences like this help inspire our young learners to become responsible stewards of the environment! 🌎💙
