1st Grade at Pumpkin Farm

First Grade Field Trip

Dollinger Family Farms

The first grade class took their first of two field trips to visit Dollinger Family Farms in Minooka.  The students got to learn about wild animals that are native to our area.  They also learned about the crops that are grown in our area and what foods and other materials come from these crops.  Students took a hayrack ride through the farm observing trees, butterflies, and nature.  One of the favorite parts of the trip were the farm animals the students got to pet and learn about.  They saw donkeys, a calf, piglets, sheep, goats, ducks, and geese.  Also on display was a pumpkin patch where the students could observe the stages of the pumpkin life cycle.  The students ate lunch at the farm, got to play in the play area and corn bin, and received a pie pumpkin to take home.  It was an eventful day!
