Sixth Grade Students Explore the Science of Sundials

Mrs. Craig’s sixth grade science classes enjoyed the sunny day as they created sundials and tested them.  This project goes along with a unit of study focusing on the Earth’s orbit and rotation.  Each student researched how sundials work, created their own sundial and tested it.  The students recorded data and observations.

“The Science project today was amazing! I love sundials. I like how we and the class made the sundial and how we got to see the shadow outside. It was awesome!  The sun and the shadow from the gnomon were cool, especially on a beautiful day like today” states Addie Mann.  “It was super cool to see the shadow and be a part of the sundial virtually and feel like I was still part of it all” shared, remote learner, Josie McAlpine.
