Kindergarten -4th Grade Visual Art

"Every child is an artist. 

The problem is how to remain an artist 

once he grows up."~ Pablo Picasso
 

Kindergarten:

 We are learning about the primary colors and how to mix them to make secondary colors.

Students will be mixing colors using crayons, clay and paints.

1st Grade:

We are learning about different kinds of shapes.

Students are cutting geometric shapes to create a picture.

2nd Grade:

We are learning about art from Asia.

They are currently making Mandalas, which are symbols from the countries India, Nepal, and China.

 

3rd Grade:

We are learning about the art of Pablo Picasso.

He was a Spanish artist that changed the definition of "Art" during the twentieth century.  His artwork can be divided into "periods" that included the Blue period, Rose period, and Cubism.

 

4th Grade:

We are learning about Abstract Art, and the use of the Elements of Art by the artist Frank Stella.
