Reading Incentive Programs
by Lynn McGhee

Seneca Grade School encourages students to keep reading with different reading incentive programs.
Read to Succeed is a program presented by Six Flags theme parks and Weekly Reader to promote reading among students in grades K through 6. Students who complete six hours of recreational reading as part of the Reading Club will be rewarded with free tickets valid at participating Six Flags theme parks.
Joliet Jackhammers Book Buddies Program offers the students an opportunity to read and earn free tickets to a Joliet Jackhammers game. Students can earn up to 7 tickets for family and friends to any Tuesday or Wednesday regular season game. Before the start of each Tuesday or Wednesday game, all Book buddies will be invited on the field for a pre-game parade around the warning track and following the games, they can run the bases!
Raider Reader program is for students in grades 1 through 5 and gives them the opportunity to earn prizes from local businesses. We would like to thank following businesses for their generous support: Casey General Stores, Seneca Public Library, Bellettini’s, Erickson’s Signs and Designs and Subway. Students earn each item until they reach their final reward, the Raider Reader Plaque! This year’s plaque was designed by fourth grader, Taylor Vroman.
We offer these programs to promote reading outside of school and reward students for their efforts. Please contact your child’s teacher or the office with any questions regarding any of these programs. Encourage your child to read for 20 minutes everyday-the rewards can be great!
