BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
The
Board of Education met for a special meeting at 7:00 p.m. on April 30, 2009 at
the Seneca Grade School North Campus Board Room.
President
Blalock called for roll call.
Present: Baker, Barla, Bedeker, Roseland, Thompson and
Blalock.
Absent: Claggett
Thompson
moved to accept the changes to the 2009-2010 Student Handbook; seconded by
Barla.
Yeas: Baker, Barla, Bedeker, Roseland, Thompson and
Blalock
Nays: None
Barla moved to go into Executive Session for
personnel at 7:05 p.m.; seconded by Roseland.
Yeas: Baker, Barla, Bedeker, Roseland, Thompson and
Blalock
Nays: None
Barla moved to return to Open Session at 7:16 p.m.;
seconded by Bedeker.
Yeas: Baker, Barla, Bedeker, Roseland, Thompson and
Blalock
Nays: None
President Blalock announced the winners of the April
7th election, Gerry Baker, Dan Bedeker, Anthony Quigley, and Kenneth
Sangston. President Blalock administered
the oath of office to new board member Kenneth Sangston. Supt. Misener congratulated and welcomed Mr.
Sangston onto the Seneca Grade School Board of Education.
President Blalock; “inasmuch as there is no further
business to come before this board, a motion for adjournment sine die is needed”.
Barla moved to adjourn sine die to reorganize;
seconded by Thompson.
Board appointed Bedeker as Chairman for
reorganization.
Bedeker calls new school board to order.
Present:
Baker, Barla, Roseland, Sangston, Thompson and Bedeker.
Absent:
Quigley.
Bedeker opened the floor for nominations for
President.
Barla nominated Bedeker for president; seconded by
Baker.
Bedeker is nominated. No further nominations for the office of
president, therefore, nominations for the office of president are closed.
Bedeker being the only candidate nominated for the
office of president, the chair hereby declares him elected.
President Bedeker opened the floor for nominations
for Vice-President.
Barla nominated Thompson vice-president; seconded by
Baker.
Thompson is nominated. No further nominations for the office of
vice-president, therefore, nominations for the office of vice-president are
closed.
Thompson being the only candidate nominated for the
office of vice-president, the chair hereby declares her elected.
Bedeker moved that the following institution be
named as school depositories: First
Midwest Bank of Seneca and Hometown National Bank of LaSalle.

Bedeker moved to appoint the following: Bill Steep, Treasurer; Dianne Bushman,
Secretary; and George Mueller, Whitt Law and Klein Thorpe & Jenkins, School
Attorneys seconded by Barla.

Nays: None
Thompson moved that the past Board Policy be adopted;
seconded by Roseland.

President Bedeker appointed the following:

President Bedeker recognized Jim Blalock and Joan
Claggett for their many years of service and for always putting the education
of children first. Also, Supt. Misener
reported a tree has been planted and a tree marker will be erected in honor of
Mrs. Claggett for her 24 years of unselfish dedication and service to Seneca
Grade School Board of Education.

moved to adjourn at 7:35 p.m.; seconded by Baker.
