BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
The
Board of Education met for their regular scheduled meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
May 20th 2009 at the Seneca Grade School North Campus Board Room.
President

President Bedeker administered the oath of office to
new board member Anthony Quigley. Board
congratulated and welcomed Mr. Quigley.

Supt.
Misener introduced May Student of the Month, Erin Clark to the board. She is the daughter of Thomas and Shannon
Clark. Erin is an honor roll
student. Teachers and staff appreciate
her hard work ethic and positive attitude she always displays.
Hearing
of Teachers: Ms. Bronson, 3rd-8th
Grade Reading Specialist explained her response to intervention program to the
board. She outlined the end of year
benchmark testing that students have just completed. Ms. Bronson is reviewing the test results and
is seeing continued improvement.
Roseland
moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report as given and bring back from investments
the following to cover payroll and monthly bills: Education $401,914.74, Building $65,938.61,
Transportation $16,242.61, IMRF $16,350.86, LEASE $45,335.53, Life Safety $1,205.92,
Tort $1,453.35, Bond $17,295.00 Totaling $565,736.62; seconded by Baker.

Principal
McGhee reported kindergarten had almost 100% attendance at the
open house held in April. Mrs. Witte,
Mrs. Olson, Mrs. Hovious, and Mrs. Ringer have done an amazing job with the new
reading series. Every kindergarten
student is now reading and writing.
Nineteen acts preformed in the North Campus Talent Show. Principal McGhee thanked Tom & Glenda
Edwards for the sound, Margi Weber for organizing and P.S.O. for sponsoring the
event. Everyone was truly
entertained. On Monday, May 17th,
third and fourth graders were entertained by the 7th and 8th
grade band and chorus students at their recruitment concert. On Friday, May 22nd, the 4th
graders will travel to South Campus for Step-up day. Students will meet
teachers and learn their way around the building.

Communications:
SEEA thanked the board for the personalized pens received in honor of
teacher appreciation week. Thank you
from Joan Claggett was read for her retirement gift. A thank you card was also received from aides
that received gas cards in appreciation for their extra crossing guard
duties. Thank yous were also read from
the secretaries for the container of flowers they received on secretary’s day.
New Business:
Supt. Misener reported this years Seneca Grade Foundation Scholarship
winners were Kayli O’Flanagan and Marissa Muffler.
