BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
The
Board of Education met for their regular scheduled meeting at 7:00 p.m. on December
17, 2008 at the Seneca Grade School North Campus Board Room.
President
Blalock called for roll call.
Present: Baker, Barla, Bedeker, Claggett, Roseland, Thompson
and Blalock.
Absent: None
Claggett
moved to accept the minutes of the November 19, 2008 meeting; seconded by Thompson.

Barla
moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report as given and bring back from investments
the following to cover payroll and monthly bills: Education $381,349.55, Building $64,732.61,
Transportation $13,796.59, IMRF $15,575.49, Tort $2,536.64, Totaling $477,990.88;
seconded by Baker.

Baker
moved to pay the following monthly bills:
Education $46,347.93, Building $32,974.13, Transportation $9,374.67,
Tort $2,536.64, Totaling $91,233.37; seconded by Bedeker.

Bedeker moved to approve the Certificate of Tax Levy
for 2008, as presented by Supt. Misener; seconded by Claggett.

Thompson moved to discard executive tapes older then
18 months, from January 2006 to June 2007; seconded by Barla.

Supt. Misener reported on the upcoming summer window
project and possible electrical upgrades at the South Campus.
Principal Severson updated the board on the pre Christmas
festivities at the South Campus.
Teachers are finishing up projects before Christmas break. He talked about the P.S.O. sponsored assembly
held on Wednesday at the South Campus.
Jerry Jacoby is a motivational speaker for kids. Mr. Jacoby’s talk focused on helping students
make better choices in life and how to appropriately deal with peer
pressure. The second round of AIMSweb
testing will begin January 12th.
Students will be evaluated and formed into groups for the 2nd
semester.
Principal
McGhee reported teachers and students are in the holiday
mode. Preschool will have their annual
Christmas program on Thursday and Friday for friends and family. Kindergarten rode the Polar Express and
received a special jingle bell. Second
graders completed their gingerbread houses and attended the play “The Santa
Claus Capers”. Fourth grade will be
traveling to the Grundy County Nursing Home to perform plays for the
residents. She also reported on the
great behavior during the Jerry Jacoby’s assembly and how proud she was of all
the students that attended. Mrs. McGhee
also discussed the additional RTI training teachers will be doing during the
January 16th, SIP day to improve the tracking and paperwork on
student assessments.

Board directed Supt. Misener to finalize agreement
with RevTrak for their online payment program.
Individual Member Report: President Blalock commented on the
informative workshops he attended at the IASB Annual Joint Conference.
Communications:
SEEA thanked the board for the attention incentives and support of the
Cashual Day Fund.
New Business:
Board set Wednesday, February 4th at 6:30 p.m. at the North
Campus for a planning session to review board goals and fund balances.
